Canvassing
Canvassing Overview
Go door-to-door, record interactions, and build relationships with your community.
Canvassing is the core outreach activity — going door-to-door in your community to have conversations, gather information, and build relationships. The canvassing tool helps volunteers record every door knock in real time, right from their phone.
Key Concepts
- Canvassing session — A block of time where one or more volunteers go out to knock on doors. Sessions track who participated, how many doors were knocked, and what happened at each one.
- Interaction — A single door knock. Records the address, outcome (what happened), and optionally the contact's information, an assessment, and notes.
- Outcome — What happened at the door: No Answer, Meaningful Conversation, Brief Interaction, Refused, Left Literature, or Language Barrier.
- Assessment — A tag your organization defines to categorize conversations (e.g., Supporter, Persuadable, Opponent). Only applies when you had a conversation.
- Team — An optional grouping. Sessions can be linked to a team so admins can track performance by group.
